My Reflection (the song)

About this track

Wasn't sure I was going to make it, but here's the second track from Open - thanks to everyone for your encouragement so far. Wrote this for my friend Cheryl (violinist for LA Phil) and sang at her wedding - no pressure (were roommates in LA) It was extremely challenging to compose (love songs are the worst). Dan proposed to Cheryl in San Francisco, and their wedding vows were inspired by sections of Plato's Symposium - so that guided the song. Key of c minor (bridge E flat maj) Reflection Candlelight In the city on a hill With a bottle of wine You whisper those Life changing words And lift me out of time Where you end I begin You're my reflection My connection to the whole A perfect circle round my finger A diamond that once was stone You give these gifts to me On one knee Opening this world I've never known Where you end I begin You're my reflection My connection to the whole I lose myself in you Then find reunion You're my reflection Melting into One (In your eyes, see me In you I see me) End to empty conversation In you, you're my true reflection Where you end I begin You're my reflection My connection to the whole I lose myse
